Introduction

SocialDataKit brings public social media data into your application. Request profiles, posts, videos and transcripts with one API key, and get a consistent JSON response.

What you can build

Find creators, research content, follow public engagement and enrich your own products with data from Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

PlatformPublic dataReference

Availability varies by endpoint. Preview routes need evaluation for your use case. Meta Ads live collection is currently disabled; development samples are free. Check API status before relying on live data.

Making your first request

1

Create your account

Get started with 100 free credits. No credit card is required.

2

Create an API key

Open API keys in your dashboard. Use a development key for samples or a production key for live requests.

3

Request public data

Choose an endpoint and send your key in the x-api-key header. Start with a public TikTok profile:

Request
curl 'https://api.socialdatakit.com/v1/tiktok/profile?handle=tiktok' \
  -H 'x-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY'

Understanding your response

Your result is inside data. Request details, caching and credit charges are inside meta. Fields the source does not provide are null.

Response structure
{
  "data": {
    "profile": {
      "username": "tiktok",
      "followers": null
    }
  },
  "meta": {
    "cached": false,
    "credits_charged": 0,
    "sandbox": true
  }
}

Credits and caching

Successful fresh live requests use the credit cost shown on each endpoint. Errors, development samples and cached responses are free. Purchased credits do not expire.

Accept a recent result with cache_max_age, or leave it out to request fresh data. Learn about credits and cached results.
